INTRODUCTION

RAMM 2009 is the 4th in the series of RAMM organized by School of Materials & Mineral Resources Engineering (SMMRE) USM. The conference will become a perfect platform to share, discuss and exchange ideas on the latest development and recent findings in research studies related to advanced materials, minerals and environment among local and international participants.

On the other hand, ASMP 2009 is being held for the second time with a purpose to enhance mutual collaboration for higher research level and activity in the field of Materials and Processing Engineering in Asian region.

For the first time, RAMM is organized concurrently with ASMP with a common field of study, i.e materials science/engineering. Researchers working in the field of Materials science and engineering, processing and mechanical studies of materials will have the opportunity to interact, discuss, exchange ideas and present their current research findings. Presentations related to Materials science and engineering for RAMM and ASMP will be combined in the same session, i.e Materials, whereas papers for Minerals and Environment will be in separate sessions (3 parallel sessions).

RAMM and ASMP 2009 will provide an excellent opportunity to keep up to date with latest achievements and development in this fast moving and high technology based fields (Materials, Minerals & Environment Engineering). Furthermore, interactions between participants from academic field and industries during the conference will benefit both parties by the exchange of ideas in the current development and technology in all three field of studies.

Among the target groups are scientist / researchers, academicians and experts from relevant industries, government agencies, universities and research institutions. In addition, this conference will be a forum to promote and strengthen further collaboration and networking amongst the researchers, experts, manufacturers and machine suppliers for the development of all relevant fields.
